RJ45 is different from RJ11
Different standards, different sizes. Due to the different sizes (RJ11 is 4 or 6 pin, RJ45 is 8 pin connection device), it is obvious that an RJ45 plug cannot be inserted into an RJ11 jack. The reverse is physically possible (the RJ11 plug is smaller than the RJ45 jack), giving the illusion that the two should or could work together. Actually, it's not. It is strongly recommended not to use RJ11 plugs for RJ45 jacks.
Because RJ11 is not internationally standardized, its dimensions, insertion force, insertion Angle, and so on are not consistent with international standard plug-in design requirements, and therefore interoperability cannot be guaranteed. They even cause damage to both. Since the RJ11 plug is smaller than the RJ45 jack, the plastic parts on either side of the plug will damage the metal pins of the inserted jack.
10/100 Base TX RJ45 ports Are common Ethernet ports that support 10 mbit/s and 100 MBIT/s self-adaptive network connection speeds. Common RJ45 ports are DTE ports for Ethernet nics and routers and DCE ports for switches. DTE can be called "data terminal equipment", DCE can be called "data communication equipment". In a sense, DTE devices are called "active communication devices" and DCE devices are called "passive communication devices". When two devices of the same type communicate using an RJ45 connection, a crossover connection must be used. This can be illustrated by the following RJ45 DTE type pin definition and RJ45 DCE type pin definition:

As can be seen from the figure above, if two DTE type interfaces (or DCE type interfaces) are connected without cross-connected pins, the pins of the contact are all data receiving (sending) pins, inevitably communication will not be carried out.
Note in addition: Some DCE devices automatically negotiate with the peer end. In this case, cross-line or parallel line can be used for connection.
